Climbing Mount Everest featured in next Live & Learn series at Robey Memorial Library ...

As part of its Live & Learn: enriching lives through monthly learning series, Robey Memorial Library in Waukon is offering Climbing Mount Everest with Jen Loeb Thursday, August 25 at 5:30 p.m. in the lower level Community Room of the library. Loeb was born and raised in Jesup and attended Wartburg College, graduating with a Biology degree. She currently lives in Marengo and works in Cedar Rapids.

Loeb started mountain climbing in 2010 and has climbed mountains all over the world, including Everest May 19, 2016. She is the first Iowa woman to climb Everest and recently became one of less than 25 women in the United States to complete the Seven Summits - accomplished when a person climbs the highest mountain on every continent. Loeb has released Shots from the Heart - a book of photographs and journal excerpts from her travels both near and far. The book and select prints are available on her website, Iowaclimberjen.com. She has been featured in The Gazette and Des Moines Register newspapers and on KWWL, KCRG and NPR.

Everyone is invited to join Robey Memorial Library staff to experience the climb of Mount Everest through Loeb’s presentation of climbing preparation and equipment, photographs and videos.
