Frank and Mary Byrnes of Waukon will be celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary October 28. The couple was married October 28, 1967 at St. Joseph Catholic Church Paint Rock, Harpers Ferry. A family gathering is planned for October 21 to celebrate the occasion.

They are the parents of Mary (Stacy) Borchers of Grimes and Brian (Cindi) Byrnes of Clive. Their grandchildren are Blake and Jenna Borchers and Alex and Caden Byrnes.

The Waukon High School Class of 1949 will meet Saturday, October 21 at 11:30 a.m. at Gus & Tony’s in Waukon. All classmates, family and friends are invited.

Marcella Johnson of Waukon will be celebrating her 90th birthday with an open house from 4-7 p.m. Saturday, October 21 at the Waukon City Club Banquet Room. She was born October 31, 1927. Those unable to attend may send cards and well wishes to her at 960 Fourth St. NW, Waukon, IA 52172.

Brittany Davis of Elgin announces the birth of her son, Jaxson Avery Davis, born October 9, 2017 at Veterans Memorial Hospital in Waukon. He weighed 7 lbs. 2 ozs. and measured 20 inches in length at the time of his birth. He joins a brother, Quinton (2). Grandparents are Ron and Rena Stoffel of Postville.
 

Members of the Immaculate Conception High School Class of 1957 gathered September 23 to celebrate their 60-year reunion. Those in attendance enjoyed lunch and an afternoon of reminiscing at Milty’s in Lansing. Randy and Linda Smrcina of Fremont, NE announce the engagement and upcoming wedding of their daughter, Lindsey Smrcina, to Jason Chicoine, son of Kathy and Gerald Herndon and Gale and Georgia Chicoine. The couple is planning an October 13, 2017 wedding to take place in Bellevue, NE at the venue A View in Fontanelle Hills.

The bride-to-be received her undergraduate degree in special education and elementary education from Midland University and her Master of Science degree in special education from the University of Nebraska in Omaha. She is a Special Education Teacher at Johnson Crossing Academic Center in Fremont, NE.

The groom-to-be received his undergraduate degree in elementary education from University of Nebraska in Lincoln and his Master of Science degree in Education Administration from University of Illinois. He is an Elementary Principal at Clarmar Elementary School in Fremont, NE.

Julie and Jeff Voss of Dubuque announce the birth of their daughter, Laura Nicole Voss, born September 11, 2017. She weighed 6 lbs. 3 ozs. and measured 19 inches in length at the time of her birth. She joins siblings, Will (11), Rachel (9), Drew (8), Claire (6) and Isaac (3).

Grandparents are Ray and Bonnie Wagner of Lansing and Roger and Joyce Voss of Dubuque.
