The family of Helen “Tiny” May will be hosting an open house celebrating her 90th birthday July 16 from 1-3 p.m. at Empty Nest Winery, 1352 Apple Road, Waukon. Vernalene Oelberg will be celebrating her 80th birthday with an open house reception Saturday, July 8 from 1-4 p.m. at the Waukon City Club Party Room. Friends and family are invited to join her in celebrating the occasion.
 

Marion “Ole” Olson of Monona will be celebrating his 90th birthday with an open house hosted by his family July 9 from 2-4 p.m. at the Tri-City Golf Course in Luana. Lucile Palmer, formerly of Waukon, will be celebrating her 90th birthday July 10. She relocated to Kansas in 2007 to be closer to family. In honor of the occasion, cards and well-wishes may be sent to 301 W 13th Street, Ellsworth, KS 67439.
 

Kai and Jessie Becker of Waukon announce the birth of their daughter, Olivia Nicole Marie Becker, born June 26, 2017 at Veterans Memorial Hospital in Waukon. She weighed 6 lbs. 5 ozs. and measured 20 inches in length at the time of her birth. She joins a sister, Makenzie (4).

Ashlee Pitts and Paul O’Neill of Waukon announce the birth of their son, Rex Francis O’Neill, born June 21, 2017 at Veterans Memorial Hospital in Waukon. He weighed 7 lbs. 5 ozs. and measured 20 inches in length at the time of his birth. He joins sisters, Ebonie (10) and Alivia (2).

Grandparents are Nancy Renk of Waukon, Robert Kelsey of Missouri and Frank and Donna O’Neill of Waukon.
 

Andy and Jessica Henkes of Monona announce the birth of their daughter, Emberly Grace Henkes, born June 18, 2017 at Veterans Memorial Hospital in Waukon. She weighed 9 lbs. 10 ozs. and measured 21-1/2 inches in length at the time of her birth. She joins siblings, Lizzie (16), Taylor (12) and Ambryss (1-1/2).

Grandparents are James Johanningmeier of McGregor and Jim and Mary Lou Henkes of Monona. Stella Huinker of Monona is a great-grandparent.

Jennifer Renee Becker and Austin James Signor, both of Chicago, IL, were united in marriage April 7, 2017 at the Barceló Maya Resort in Riviera Maya, Mexico surrounded by 70 of their closest family and friends. Making the trip to Mexico was Austin’s grandfather, Jerry McGinnis, who officiated the wedding, and his grandmother, Mercedes Signor.

The bride is the daughter of Cullen and Denise Becker of Lansing. She is the granddaughter of the late Robert and Mary Peters and the late Joe and Kathleen Becker, all of Lansing.

The groom is the son of Trish Signor of Clive and Tom and Vicki Signor of Norwalk. He is the grandson of Jerry McGinnis of Shenandoah and the late Sharon McGinnis, and Mercedes Signor of Mason City and the late Don Signor.

Steve and Rita (Walleser) Thom are celebrating their 25th wedding anniversary. The couple exchanged vows June 27, 1992 at the Salem Lutheran Church in Milwaukee, WI.

Friends and family are invited to join them July 1 for a celebration hosted by the couple’s neices and nephews at their home at 3575 County Road 5, Eitzen, MN 55931, three miles outside of New Albin. The celebration begins at 1 p.m., with food from 2-8 p.m.

After 31 years with Quad Graphics in Pewaukee, WI, Steve, originally of Milwaukee, WI, retired to focus on farming and building the couple’s new home. Rita, originally of Lansing, formerly worked for Bruening Rock Products in Decorah and is currently employed by Kwik Star in Lansing and City Meats in New Albin.
 

Jim and Ila (Kubitz) Hammell of Caledonia, MN celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary with their family. They were married June 18, 1957 at St. Joseph’s Church in New Albin.

The couple has been blessed with two sons, Kevin (Angie) of Rochester, MN and Steven of La Crescent, MN. They also have two granddaughters, Abbey and Anna.
