Ethan Harrington and Kari O’Connell of Waukon wish to announce their engagement and September 17 wedding at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Waukon.

The bride’s parents are Douglas O’Connell of Eastman, WI and Tamiko Fish O’Connell of Waukon. She is a 2009 graduate of Prairie du Chien High School in Prairie du Chien, WI. She works as a substitute for NEICAC Headstart.

The groom’s parents are Linette and Rex Johanningmeier of Monona and Daniel Harrington of Waukon. He is a 2010 graduate of Waukon High School and currently works for Johanningmeier Farms.

The descendants of Earl and Marion Miller will hold a reunion Sunday, September 4 at 12:30 p.m. It will be held at the Farmers & Merchants Savings Bank Community Room in Waukon. Those attending are requested to bring a dish to pass and their own table service.

Livingood family reunion scheduled for September 11

The Edwin and Mathilda (Pechia) Livingood reunion will be held September 11 at the Farmers and Merchants Savings Bank Community Room in Waukon. Attendees are asked to bring a dish to pass and a story to share.

Coffee, beverages and table service will be furnished. Dinner will be at noon. A rough draft of recipes will be available for proofreading during the reunion.

Birth announcement: Breitsprecher

Logan Breitsprecher and Lauryn Christianson of Calmar announce the birth of their son, Greyson Boyd Breitsprecher, born August 5, 2016 at Veterans Memorial Hospital in Waukon. He weighed 8 lbs. 3 ozs. and measured 21 inches in length at the time of his birth.

Grandparents are Chad and Andrea Breitsprecher of Decorah and Bob and Carol Christianson of Waukon. Great-grandparents are Hilmen and Lillian Christianson of Waukon, Marilyn Breitsprecher and the late Gary Breitsprecher of Ossian, and Joe and Monica Moellers of Castalia.

Msgr. Ed Lechtenberg to celebrate his 90th birthday and 65 years of ordination

Fr. Msgr. Ed Lechtenberg of Lansing will be celebrating his 90th birthday and 65 years of ordination with an open house Sunday, September 25. The event is scheduled to take place at the Allamakee County Fairgrounds Pavilion in Waukon from 2-5 p.m.

Fr. Ed requests no personal gifts. Any gifts should be made out to the Driftless Area Education and Visitors Center.

Stilwell, Culler exchange vows May 29 in North Carolina

Christine Culler and Scott Joseph Stilwell were united in marriage Sunday, May 29 at Brook Hollow Farm near Whitsett, NC. Parents of the bride are Catherine Culler of Whitsett, NC and the late William Culler of Cincinnati, OH. Parents of the groom are Clark and Charlotte Stilwell of Waukon.

The bride wore a v-neck, sleeveless gown of ivory French lace over champagne charmeuse. She carried a bouquet of hydrangea and heirloom roses.

The wedding was officiated by Tim Sharpe, friend of the couple. Music was provided by a string quartet. Witnesses were Page Yaxley of Columbus, OH and Adam Schulte of Waukon.

A catered dinner reception was held at the home of the bride’s mother following the ceremony. Music was provided by Carolina Blue Band.

Morgan Leigh Mahoney of Waukon and Justin Robert Smerud of Lansing were united in marriage June 11, 2016 at the Dousman House in Prairie du Chien, WI. Rev. Sandra McKinney officiated the ceremony.

The bride is the daughter of Brian and Suzette Mahoney of Waukon, and the granddaughter of Michael Mahoney and Maureen Mahoney of Waukon, and Gene and Marcia Rosel of Decorah.

The groom is the son of Cullen and Denise Becker of Lansing, and the grandson of the late Robert and Mary Peters, the late Joe and Kathleen Becker and the late George and Betty Smerud, all of the Lansing/New Albin area.

Morgan Miller, friend of the bride, served as Maid of Honor. The bride’s other attendants were Dana Jones and Ashley Mulholland, friends of the bride; and Jessica Verdon and Jennifer Becker, sisters of the groom. Brooklyn Kruse, cousin of the bride, was the flower girl. The bride’s personal attendant was Melissa Kruse, cousin of the bride.

Erin Leigh Murray and Robert Dale Peters of Williamstown, NJ exchanged vows May 27, 2016 at the Tomasello Winery in Hammonton, NJ.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Murray of New Jersey and the groom is the son of Dana Peters of Glendora, NJ and the late Dale Peters, formerly of Lansing.

Grandparents of the groom are the late Robert and Mary Peters of Lansing and Robert and Babe Wagner of Bleheim, NJ. Grandparents of the bride are Donald Murray, Sr. and Elizabeth Houck-Murray of Barrington, NJ, and Paul and Anna Pulaski of Bellmawr NJ.

The groom’s aunt, Denise (Peters) Becker of Lansing, traveled to New Jersey to attend the ceremony.

The couple traveled to Aruba for their honeymoon and will make their home in Williamstown, NJ.

Lansing Public School Class of 1956 reunion ...

The Lansing Public School Class of 1956 held its 60-year class reunion at the Red Barn Resort in Lansing July 30. There were 18 graduates, three of whom are deceased, including Jean (Stahl) Fahey, Charles Snitker and Sandra (Munz) Sorenson. Those unable to attend were Ruth (Leppert) Beyer, Phyllis (McKee) Dymond, Bob Beck and LaVonne Beardmore. Eleven class members attended the event and are pictured above.
