Lansing High School’s Class of 1960 gathers for 55-year reunion

Members of Lansing High School’s Class of 1960 celebrated their 55-year reunion July 24 with a cruise on the Mississippi Explorer followed by dinner at The Old Rossville Store that evening. Those attending were: (front row, left to right) John Wood, Fred Hogan, Mike Callahan, Lyle Peters, Dave Munchoff, Glen Reed and George Stahl; (back row, left to right) Shirley (Lund) Manning, Helen (Cole) Christianson, Phyllis (Beck) Verdon, Corrine (Schultz) Burke, Kay (Reed) Christensen, Jean (Wurtzel) Gruber and Patsy (Breeser) Gavin. Unable to attend was Janet (Schulze) Jarchow. Deceased members are Tom Mohn and Jerry Hanley. Sadly, Shirley Manning passed away in early September. Her classmates were happy she was at the reunion. Birth announcement: Stram

Rusty Corlett and Michael Stram of Monona announce the birth of their son, Forrest Michael Stram, September 25, 2015 at Veterans Memorial Hospital in Waukon. He weighed 10 lbs., 2.6 ozs. and measured 23-1/2 inches in length at the time of his birth. He joins a brother, Sawyer (4).
Grandparents are Calvin and Linda Corlett of McGregor and Ronnie and Janet Stram of Prairie du Chien, WI. Great-grandparents are Ralph and Olga Corlett of McGregor, and Rose Stram and Dorothy Jones, both of Prairie du Chien, WI.

Sickles, Cole joined in marriage

Jennifer Sickles and Danny Cole Jr., both of Lansing, were joined in marriage September 5, 2015 at their barn in rural Lansing.
The bride is the daughter of Floyd Sickles Jr. and Julee Seeley, both of Lansing. She is a 2013 graduate of Upper Iowa University with a Master’s Degree in Public Administration. She is currently employed as the Program Coordinator at TASC, Inc. in Waukon.
The groom is the son of Danny Cole Sr. of Lansing and Connie Cole of Waukon. He is a 1996 graduate of Kee High School and currently owns Cole’s Auto Repair in Lansing.

Stone, Schwartzhoff to wed

Kristine Ann Stone and Patrick Emmet Schwartzhoff, both of Waukon, along with their families, announce their engagement and upcoming wedding. They plan to exchange vows October 17 at St. Mary’s Lycurgus Church, rural Waukon. A reception will be held following the ceremony at the Fairgrounds Pavilion in Waukon.
The bride-elect is the daughter of Mary and the late Gary Johnson of Waukon. She is a 1989 graduate of Waukon Senior High School and completed the Food Service Supervisor program at Northeast Iowa Community College. She is currently employed as a Dietary Manager Assistant at Northgate Care Center in Waukon and as a part-time bartender at Goodfellas in Waukon.
The groom-elect is the son of Don and the late Shirley Schwartzhoff of Waukon. He is a 1984 graduate of Waukon Senior High School and is a co-owner of Schwartzhoff Construction.

Bill and Sue Blagsvedt of Waukon are celebrating their 45th wedding anniversary. Bill and Sue (Ruehmann) were married October 3, 1970 at Mabel First Lutheran Church in Mabel, MN. The couple has two daughters, Erin (Kori) of Taylor Ridge, IL and Emily (Joe) of Wheaton, IL. They have two grandsons, Grant and Noah. Ken and Bonnie Iseli to celebrate 45th wedding anniversary

Ken and Bonnie (Halverson) Iseli were married October 17, 1970 at Bethlehem Presbyterian Church, rural Waukon. They plan to celebrate the occasion of their 45th wedding anniversary with an open house Sunday, October 11 from 1-4 p.m. at their daughter’s home, located at 118 First Street SE in New Albin. Everyone is welcome to attend.
They have three children: Jessica (Jeff) Meyer of New Albin, Jolene (Kevin) Grant of Vero Beach, FL and Jeret Iseli of Decorah. They have six grandchildren.

WHS Class of 1945 gathers for 70-year class reunion

The Waukon High School Class of 1945 held its 70-year class reunion August 29 at the home of Ozzie and Phyllis Quandahl in Waukon, who provided the noon luncheon. Thirteen class members and 14 guests were in attendance. The chairpersons were Ozzie Quandahl, Berdell Meiners and Roger Lonning.
The following attended from Waukon: Vincent Haas; Robert J. and Irene Stock; Darlene (Rush) Leas, and son, David; Eleanor (Bakkum) and Otto Thorstenson; Curtis and LaVonne Kruger; Lorna (Grotegut) Bjerke; Ozzie and Phyllis Quandahl, and daughter, Julie and Lyle Schulte.
Attending from out of town were Willard and Shirley Meyer, Dorchester; Marjorie (Rolfs) and Emmett Kruger, Postville; Betty (Bulman) Snitker and daughter, Jan Croskrey, Cedar Rapids; Berdell Meiners and his sister, Grace Bulman, Caledonia, MN; Roger and Marjorie Lonning and son, Steven, Albert Lea, MN; Jim and Beth Whalen, Augusta, WI.

Jessica Kann and Jeremiah McArthur of McGregor announce the birth of their daughter, Aliyah Miah McArthur, September 19, 2015 at Veterans Memorial Hospital in Waukon. She weighed 5 lbs., 4.6 ozs. and measured 19-/12 inches in length at the time of her birth. She joins a sister, Annaka McArthur (5).

Halvorson, Leiran, Busness, Sorum family reunion Oct. 10

A reunion of the Halvorson, Leiran, Busness and Sorum families will be held Saturday, October 10 beginning at 12 noon with a potluck meal. The reunion has been moved to the Robert Kolsrud farm in rural Waukon.
Family members are asked to bring stories and pictures to share and to let other family members know about this upcoming reunion.
There will also be a church service Sunday, October 11 at Old West Paint Creek Church at 9 a.m. with brunch to follow.
