11/21/2012 11:19:00 AM New Veterans Memorial Health Care Foundation Endowment for Education, Recruitment and Retention announced by Allamakee County Comm. Foundation
Board members of the Veterans Memorial Health Care Foundation have recently established the Veterans Memorial Health Care Foundation Endowment for Education, Recruitment and Retention. The new fund will be held within the growing family of endowments within the Allamakee County Community Foundation (ACCF), an affiliate of the Community Foundation of Greater Dubuque (CFGD). The endowment has been created to help address current and future issues related to education, recruitment and retention of health care personnel. The Veterans Memorial Health Care Foundation Board will direct annual distributions from this forever fund. An endowment is a savings account for the community in place forever, under the umbrella of the county community foundation. Veterans Memorial Health Care Foundation President Nancy Schoh said, “Gifts to the new endowment held by the Community Foundation are eligible for the Endow Iowa 25% state tax credit. This incentive is attractive to donors looking to make a lasting difference for health care here in our community.” Gifts are also eligible for the federal charitable deduction. Community Foundation endowments are built with gifts from individual, family and corporate donors. The foundation assists with gifts of stocks, bonds, IRA rollovers, and grain. Citizens can find out more by contacting Schoh at 563-568-3417 or by contacting ACCF Coordinator Betty Steege at 563-586-2046 or by e-mail at email@example.com. The ACCF Board is led by Joan McCormick, who said, “We are proud to welcome this new fund which will strengthen local health care.” McCormick leads the community foundation in its mission to educate caring citizens and build endowments to support Allamakee County forever, and the Community Foundation Board is advised by CFGD Affiliate Foundations Director M.J. Smith of Guttenberg.
