Waukon softball team closes out regular season falling short in five games

The Waukon softball team wrapped up its regular season in less than desirable fashion, sliding in each of its final five regular season games this past week to finish the season on a seven-game skid. The Indians dropped a Northeast Iowa Conference doubleheader to New Hampton in their final home contest of the season by scores of 7-3 and 13-5 Tuesday, July 1 before suffering an 8-0 loss at Class 1A 15th-rated Kee Wednesday, July 2. The softball Tribe then brought its regular season to a close with another Northeast Iowa Conference doubleheader sweep suffered at Crestwood Thursday, July 3 by scores of 5-1 and 10-0 in six innings.
The Indians finished up their regular season with a 7-24 overall record that includes a 2-16 mark that placed them seventh in the final Northeast Iowa Conference standings.
The Indians are scheduled to return to Crestwood Tuesday, July 8 for the first round of Class 3A Regional Tournament play.
