The Waukon wrestling team opened its 2014-2015 season in fairly successful fashion, sweeping its first two dual matches of the season before finishing fifth at the Chris Davis Tournament hosted by Wapsie Valley High School. The mat Tribe began its season with dual match victories at Clayton Ridge over Riceville, 46-21, and the host school, 54-18, Thursday, December 4 before having seniors Adam Benzing and Gunnar Grangaard win individual titles to pace the Indians to their middle-of-the-pack team finish at Wapsie Valley Saturday, December 6.
The Indians were scheduled to host Caledonia, MN Tuesday, December 9 before traveling to Class 3A Waverly-Shell Rock Friday, December 12 and then competing at the South Winneshiek Tournament Saturday, December 13. The mat Tribe will then wrap up the 2014 portion of its schedule with a double dual at New Hampton Thursday, December 18 against the host Chickasaws and Crestwood before competing in the Starmont Tournament Saturday, December 20.
