Waukon wrestling team falls to Caledonia, MN and Waverly-Shell Rock, places seventh at S. Winn

The Waukon wrestling team wrapped up its busiest week of the season so far, falling to a pair of perennial mat powers in its two dual meet opponents before finishing seventh as a team at the South Winneshiek Tournament. The Indians fell victim to Caledonia, MN by a 62-12 count in their first home dual meet of the season Tuesday, December 9 before suffering a similar fate, 73-6, at Class 3A Waverly-Shell Rock in the Tribe’s first Northeast Iowa Conference match of the season Friday, December 12. The Indians then wrestled to a seventh-place finish at the South Winneshiek Tournament Saturday, December 13.

The Indians will now wrap up the 2014 portion of their schedule with a double dual at New Hampton Thursday, December 18 against the host Chickasaws and Crestwood before competing in the Starmont Tournament Saturday, December 20 prior to the holiday break. The mat Tribe will return to action following the holidays with a Saturday, January 3 multi-team dual event at Crestwood featuring the host Cadets, Saint Ansgar, South Winneshiek and Fillmore Central out of Minnesota.
