Kee cross country team wraps up 2015 season


Kee boys cross country junior Evan Whalen (at left in photo background) and sophomore Jack Mooney (at right in photo background) paced the Hawks’ effort early in their season-ending Class 1A State Qualifying Meet at Cedar Falls Thursday, October 22. Whalen wrapped up his season-long role as Kee’s top finisher with a 94th-place finish out of 141 runners in a time of 20:51, with Mooney coming in 116th with a clocking of 21:54. Kee girls cross country sophomore Nicki Wood wrapped up her 2015 cross country campaign as the lone high school female competitor for the Hawks this entire season. Wood finished in the top one-third of the 126-runner field at the Class 1A State Qualifying Meet in Cedar Falls Thursday, October 22, placing 39th overall in a time of 22:54. The Kee cross country team had its 2015 season brought to a close Thursday, October 22 at its Class 1A State Qualifying Meet in Cedar Falls. The Hawk boys had just enough runners to compile a 19th-place team score of 509 points in the 25-team field, while Kee sophomore Nicki Wood was the lone female competitor for the Hawks, finishing 39th overall out of 126 competitors in a time of 22:54 on the 5K course.
A top-three team finish and top-15 individual finish was required to earn qualification for the Saturday, October 31 State Meet in Fort Dodge. Denver, Hudson and Dunkerton were the three boys teams to earn State Meet qualification, and West Fork, North Linn and Jesup were the three girls teams that qualified.
