Supervisors address light agenda Monday

by Jason Meyer

The Allamakee County Board of Supervisors met in regular session Monday morning, December 14. The Supervisors opened the meeting by amending the agenda, tabling the consideration of proposed payroll change until a later meeting, as the employee’s union had not yet finalized its portion of the proposal.
First order of business, the Board heard from Maxine Grotegut of Allamakee Substance Abuse Prevention (ASAP) on the Iowa Partnerships for Success Grant. Grotegut noted that with this funding ASAP will be focusing on underage drinking and underage binge drinking, and they’re currently in the planning phase for implementation.
The Supervisors unanimously approved a lump-sum vacation and sick-time payout for a former full-time employee moved in to part-time status. Burnell Sorum will receive a payment of $4,906.68 for 16 hours of vacation and 712 hours of sick time, with the vacation paid at 100% and the sick time paid at 50%.
In other business the Supervisors approved the 2015 Weed Commissioner’s report, and adopted a resolution establishing a snowmobile route within the Secondary Road right of way for the 2015-16 winter.
