Kee basketball boys open postseason with win at Starmont, will play at Jesup Thursday

The Kee boys basketball team wrapped up its regular season this week with a split of two final games before opening the postseason with a victory for the second straight year to keep its 2015-2016 campaign alive. The Hawks ended their regular season with a 60-54 loss at North Fayette Valley Monday, February 8 in a game rescheduled from February 2 before edging out Coulee Christian, 53-50, at Westby, WI Friday, February 12. The Kee basketballers then got their Class 1A District Tournament schedule underway with a 59-52 win at Starmont Monday, February 15 to earn postseason advancement.
That advancement will send the Hawks to Jesup this Thursday, February 18 for a District quarterfinal match-up with the J-Hawks in the second half of a doubleheader that evening beginning at 8 p.m. The 6:30 p.m. game will feature East Buchanan against Edgewood-Colesburg, with the two winning teams from Thursday advancing on to a Tuesday, February 23 District semifinal bout at Jesup, beginning at 8 p.m. for the right to play in the District finals Thursday, February 25 at Oelwein.
The Hawks’ season record currently stands at 7-15 overall, including a 5-10 mark in Upper Iowa Conference (UIC) play that placed the Hawks eighth in the final UIC standings.
