James LeRoy Wolcott, 66, of Harpers Ferry passed away unexpectedly at home Saturday, March 11, 2017. Funeral Services were held Monday, March 20 at St. Ann-St. Joseph Catholic Church, Harpers Ferry, with Rev. John Moser as the Officiant. Inurnment will be at a later date at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church Cemetery, Wexford.
James was born April 14, 1950 at Beaumont Hospital in Prairie du Chien, WI to Glenn and Mildred (Eggleston) Wolcott. He graduated from Seneca High School in 1968.
August 26, 1972 he was united in marriage with Mary Jo Valley and they had two daughters. Jim owned and operated J & J Electric in Harpers Ferry for 38 years. In the Harpers area, everyone knew if something was broken Jim was the guy to call.
Jim shared his love of the outdoors with all who knew him and especially enjoyed hunting in South Dakota, Colorado and around home. He loved fishing in Canada and being outdoors. Jim loved to learn and was a self-taught man, tinkering with everything until he mastered it. He had a love for classic Chevys and enjoyed restoring them.
Jim is survived by his wife of 44 years, Mary Jo; his daughters, Bev Mentzer of Sioux Falls, SD and Rita Wolcott (Bobbie) of Holmen, WI; three grandchildren, Alexa, Braedon and Ana; his siblings, Rita (Donald) Hoelker, William (Cookie) Wolcott, Carolyn (Dan) Wokosin, Duane (Carol Jean) Wolcott and Thomas Wolcott. Jim is also survived by his little buddy, Ricky. He is preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Robert and Raymond Wolcott.
