Scott Jack Grant, age 73, of Logan passed away Saturday, March 18, 2017 at his home in Logan. Funeral Memorial Mass is being held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 22 at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Logan, with Father Raphael Masabakwa as Celebrant. The family would like to invite everyone to a time of lunch and fellowship at the Christian Church in Logan immediately following the service. The family will also greet friends from 9 a.m. until time of the service Wednesday at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Logan.
Scott was born June 23, 1943 in Charles City to Jack W. and Ruth V. (Arthur) Grant. Scott grew up in Lansing. He attended Upper Iowa University, where he earned his bachelor’s degree. Scott was a teacher in Monona from 1966-1969, and in 1969 came to Logan, where he was a teacher and a coach until 1999 when he retired.
Scott was married to Linda Michels August 6, 1966 in Oelwein. He was a dedicated Iowa Hawkeye Fan and NASCAR enthusiast. Scott dedicated much of his life to his teaching career. He had a passion for coaching and built lifelong relationships with his students and athletes.
His family was first and foremost in his life. Scott’s heart belonged to his children, grandchildren and entire family. Scott was a devoted husband to Linda for 50 years.
Scott was preceded in death by his parents, Ruth and Jack; and his son-in-law, Douglas Schaefer.
Scott is survived by his wife, Linda, of Logan; his daughters: Michelle (Lavell) Stewart of Houston, TX and Tracy (Gary Gruis) Schaefer of Council Bluffs; his grandchildren, Samantha (Matt) Peckham, Zachary Schaefer, Gracie Gruis, Jaelynn Stewart and Dezarai Stewart; his great-grandchild, Jace Peckham; his sister, Beth (Don) Leaman; and his brother, Kevern (Deborah) Grant.
