VMH encourages community participation in Live Healthy Iowa wellness challenge this winter

Veterans Memorial Hospital is encouraging individuals in the area communities to sign up to participate in the Live Healthy Iowa wellness challenge this winter. The length of the Live Healthy Iowa program is 10 weeks, allowing those involved a good duration to truly make these wellness changes a habit. Teams can be anywhere from two to 10 members per team, allowing for greater flexibility for each team.

The program is web-based with a personal tracking page that allows everyone to keep their own results right in front of them at all times. And the professional support offered by Live Healthy Iowa offers weekly motivational emails and unlimited access to recipes, workouts and other health information, all easily accessible on the Live Healthy Iowa website.

For many years, Allamakee County won the community participation prize for the number of residents enrolled in the program and hopes that award can be claimed by Allamakee County again this year. Nearly 100 of those members were hospital staff who felt the program was very beneficial and well supported by the Iowa Sports Foundation, the sponsors of Live Healthy Iowa.

Teams can now be formed to be ready to begin the Live Health Iowa 10-week challenge January 22, running through March 30. Veterans Memorial Hospital will then be awarding all those in the 10-week challenge with a participation prize at its annual wellness fair Wednesday, May 9.

To sign up for the Live Healthy Iowa 10-week challenge, visit the website, www.livehealthyiowa.org. Veterans Memorial Hospital will also continue to offer registration directions and support on this new wellness program in the next few issues of the local papers.
