Physicians and the entire staff at Veterans Memorial Hospital in Waukon announce that the hospital's First Baby of the Year honors were won by Dexter Douglas Dietrich, newborn son of Nicole and Dillon Dietrich of Waukon.

Dexter was born Friday, January 12, 2018 at 12:50 p.m., weighing seven pounds, seven ounces and measuring 21 inches long. Dr. David Schwartz and Dr. Benjamin Nesseim assisted with the delivery. Dexter joins his big brother, Dayton, age three, at home.

All babies born at Veterans Memorial Hospital in the year 2018 will receive a Baby Coupon Book coordinated by the hospital through coupon donations from over 80 area businesses in Harpers Ferry, Lansing, Monona, Postville and Waukon. The hospital coordinates this in an effort to assure all babies born at the hospital are treated extra special.

Dexter's grandparents are Joan and Todd Dietrich and Tami O’Connell, all of Waukon, and Doug O’Connell of Eastman, WI. His great-grandparents are Sharon Brown and Wanda Barker of Waukon, Aldean Dietrich of Frankville and Ed and Barb O’Connell of Eastman, WI.
