Waukon girls basketball team sets another defensive record in 54-9 win at Charles City during undefeated week; Postseason slated to begin this Saturday at home

The Waukon girls basketball team completely reversed its fortune from a week earlier, bouncing back from a winless final full week of January to post nothing but wins in its two games this past week. The Lady Indians began the week with a 66-53 road triumph at Spring Grove, MN Monday, January 29 before wrapping up the week with a  54-9 record-setting win at Charles City Friday, February 2.

The undefeated week improved the Indians to a 12-6 season record that also includes an 8-3 mark in Northeast Iowa Conference (NEIC) play, a record that now pulls them even with Class 4A 14th-rated Waverly-Shell Rock for second place in the league standings after the Go-Hawks fell to NEIC-leading and Class 3A top-rated Crestwood this past Friday, 74-37. The basketball Tribe was scheduled to wrap up its regular season this week with back-to-back game dates, at South Winneshiek Monday, February 5 (a game that was canceled due to winter weather and will not be made up this season) and then hosting Decorah Tuesday, February 6.

The Indians will then begin postseason tournament play at home this Saturday, February 10 against North Fayette Valley, beginning at 7 p.m.
