Evelyn Reuter

Evelyn Reuter, age 86, of Monticello died Wednesday, January 16, 2019 at Mercy Hospital, Cedar Rapids due to complications of Diabetes. Mass of Christian Burial was held Saturday, January 19 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Monticello with interment in the Oakwood Cemetery, Monticello.

Surviving are four children: Karla (Dan) McMurrin of Alburnett, James (Jackie) Reuter and Tom (Teresa) Reuter, both of Monticello, and Jerry (Barb) Reuter of Omaha, NE; 10 grandchildren: Deanna (Blake) Frericks of Marion, Kevin (Morgan Troendle) McMurrin of Alburnett, Jennifer Reuter of Cedar Rapids, Jeremy (Megan), A.J., Michael, Mason and Zachary Reuter, all of Monticello, Jasmine Reuter of Cedar Rapids and Colin Reuter of Omaha, NE; six great-grandchildren: Riece, Madison and Alex Frericks of Marion, and Riley, Brenden and Liam Reuter of Monticello; her sister, Alice Murphy of Minneapolis, MN; and two brothers, Ray (Janice) Larkin of El Paso, TX and Herbert (Patsy) Larkin of Waukon.  She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Roy, in 2010; three sisters, Marion Ryan, Frances Gallagher and Eleanor Ryan; and three brothers John, Charles and Clem Larkin.

Evelyn Louise Larkin was born August 10, 1932 at Waukon. She was the daughter of John and Miranda (Link) Larkin. Evelyn graduated from St. Patrick’s Catholic School in Waukon in 1950.   She worked at the Monticello State Bank and Prudential Life Insurance Company in Cedar Rapids.

Evelyn Larkin and Roy Reuter were married June 30, 1956 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Cedar Rapids. The couple made their home in the Monticello area and farmed on the Jones-Delaware Road. They retired from farming in 1990.

Evelyn was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, where she helped with the funeral lunches. She also volunteered at the Monticello Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Food Pantry, and the Senior Dining Program in Monticello.
