Jacquelyn Regan

Jacquelyn M. Regan, 92, currently of Cedar Rapids but a lifelong resident of Waukon, died Friday, January 25, 2019 at The Gardens of Cedar Rapids living center. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 30 at 11 a.m. at Zion United Church of Christ in Waukon with burial in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Waukon. Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday, January 29 at Martin Funeral Home in Waukon.

Jacquelyn Mae (Wheat) Regan was born April 12, 1926 to Dr. Roy H. and Zonona (Sargood) Wheat in Marquette. Jac was educated at the local schools where she was active in developing the first yearbook for Waukon High School (The Arrow) and the writing of the high school song lyrics set to the music of “Our Director”. She was confirmed and remained a lifelong member of Zion United Church of Christ in Waukon. After graduating from Waukon High School, Jacqueline studied dental hygiene at the University of Minnesota, where she played the clarinet with the university stage band and the Golden Gopher Pep Band.

May 3, 1947 she married Daniel Edmund Regan in Waukon and assisted him in launching Regan Pharmacy in 1956. They operated the business for several decades before eventually selling it to Dan’s nephew, Joseph Cunningham.

Jacqueline was involved in a variety of activities in Waukon including several study clubs, bridge clubs and the Waukon Golf and Country Club. She was a member of Ruth Circle at Zion UCC, as well as assisting in other areas, served as President of the Iowa Pharmaceutical Association Auxiliary, and had been a member of the Waukon American Legion Auxiliary chapter since 1944.

Jac enjoyed raising a garden and tending to flowers in her yard and for several winters she and Dan escaped the colder temperatures to spend time in Rockport, TX. Family events and any time she got to spend with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were always special to Jac.

Survivors include her two sons: Stephen (Marianne) and Michael (Rose), both of Cedar Rapids; four grandchildren: Tim (Christina) Regan, Dana (Ray) Bolinger, Jen (Brendon) Hale and Sarah Regan; seven great-grandchildren: Grey Regan, Briar Regan, Zonona, Harlow and Aliana Bolinger, Jaidyn Regan and Kendyl Regan; two step-grandchildren: Bridgette Brownfield and Brian (Mandy) Brownfield; and two step-great-grandchildren: Tiana and Tiara Brownfield. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Daniel, who died in 1999; and two brothers, Robert and Harry Wheat.
