Memorial services will be held Thursday, January 31 at 12 p.m. at Martin Funeral Home in Waukon with Pastor Wayne Ellingson officiating. Burial will be at a later date in St. Peter’s Cemetery in Chaseburg, WI. Friends may call one hour before services Thursday at the funeral home.

Phyllis June Dahlke was born November 24, 1928 in Viroqua, WI, the daughter of Jay and Elsie (Snell) Warner. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Chaseburg, WI, graduated from Viroqua High School in 1946 and attended a year of Normal school. August 7, 1948, she married Donald Dahlke in Viroqua, WI.

They owned and operated Dahlke’s IGA Stores in Waukon from 1964 until 1976 and in Fayette from 1976 until 1989; Phyllis did the bookkeeping and worked the checkout counter. From 1989 until 1996, they worked for PIL in distribution and services, handling accounts throughout the southwestern United States. Following that they retired, first to Fayette and then to West Union, before moving back to Waukon in 2008. Phyllis has been a resident at Northgate Care Center for the past four years.

Phyllis enjoyed playing cards, embroidery work, and treasured spending time with her family and going to get-togethers. She was a great cook and amazed her family on how she could feed so many people with what seemed like a small roast beef, four to five potatoes, a salad and cake. Phyllis was very devoted to her family; she was kind, loving and so caring.

Survivors include her children: Bill (Connie) Dahlke of Marshalltown, Sue Stamper of Waukon and Karl (Kim) Dahlke of Bellevue, NE; 10 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; a son-in-law, Bob (Kathy Juba) Butikofer of Cedar Rapids; a sister-in-law, Valice Warner of Arizona; and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Donald, who died in 2009; a daughter, Elizabeth Butikofer; a granddaughter, Sarah Dahlke; a son-in-law, Mick Stamper; a sister, Myrna Moe; and four brothers: Lyle, Verlin, Blaine and Wendell Warner.
