Lansing Fire Department, other agencies respond to report of man who fell off boat dock Monday morning

The Allamakee County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a man in need of rescue from the Mississippi River Monday morning, June 17 at around 9:10 a.m. A man had reportedly fallen off the boat dock near the address of 1110 North Front Street in Lansing but was able to grab hold of the dock and hang on to it long enough for rescue respondents to help safely pull him out of the water. He did not require transport to any medical facility.

Responding with a rescue boat and a collection of their volunteer crew, members of the Lansing Fire Department arrived at the scene of the incident within minutes of the call to help pull the unidentified man out of the water to safety and reported being clear from the scene within a 10-minute timeframe, not having to use the boat or other such equipment to complete the rescue. An officer from the Iowa Department of Natural Resources (DNR) also responded from Harpers Ferry, as did officers from the Allamakee County Sheriff’s Office with a boat and drone, all of which were called off while en route to the scene.
