James Maloney

Born in Columbus, OH November 26, 1929, James Thomas Maloney was raised in Waukon, moved frequently through his adult years, then resided in Texas during his later years until his death October 2, 2019.

James graduated from Loras College, Dubuque in 1952 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology. After serving in the Air Force in Korea, he went on to earn a second Bachelor’s degree in Hospital Administration from the University of Iowa in 1954.  James was a gifted administrator, becoming in 1960 the youngest hospital administrator in the United States, heading the Princeton Clinic, which at the time was among the largest in the country.

James is survived by his wife, Maria; his sister, Shirley; his children, Colleen, James, Sean, Kathleen and Bridget; his grandchildren, Sarah, Hannah, Gabriel, Kelly, Justin, Sean, Susan, Angela, James, Mary Jo, Katherine and Adam; and his great-grandchildren, Freya, Violet, Adalyn, Eamon and Coletta, who, born this October 2, joined us in this life as her great-grandfather left us for eternal life. That is the beauty and grace of God’s providence. He takes one life and sends another.

James Thomas was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Ellen; the mother of his children, Mary Virginia; and his granddaughter, Jessica Lynn. Your legacy continues, Dad. May God rest your soul in peace and love.
