Indian gridders will try to spell out a second State Championship against OABCIG this Friday

The actors were mainly different and the stage was a bit earlier, but the end result was the same - a standing ovation by the Waukon crowd in attendance as their football Indians posted another play-off victory over Williamsburg, 32-14, in their Class 2A State Semifinals game Saturday, November 16 at the UNI-Dome in Cedar Falls.

“The one thing I come back to with this group is how many kids we have who contribute,” Waukon football coach Chad Beermann said of his charges’ posting of another State Play-Off win over Williamsburg two seasons after doing so in the 2017 Class 2A State Championship game. “You can look at how many different kids have caught a pass, scored a touchdown, or had a defensive interception or fumble recovery. I think one of the consistent messages to this team has been the ‘even keel’ approach, where we don’t get too excited, but also can’t afford to get too down. There is also a certain amount of self-confidence, in knowing that if they do their jobs and trust in their teammates to do their jobs, good things will happen.”
