Deloris Scott

Deloris Ann Scott, age 90, of Austin, MN died peacefully Tuesday, January 7, 2020 at Benedictine Living Community in St. Peter, MN. Funeral Services were held Monday, January 13 at Mayer Funeral Home in Austin, MN with Pastor Madison Chelberg officiating. Interment was in Grandview Cemetery.

Deloris was born September 17, 1929 in Austin, MN, the daughter of Paul F. and Anna M. Fisher. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Austin. Deloris attended country school near Newry and graduated from Austin High School in 1948.

May 6, 1950, Deloris was united in marriage to Earl James Scott at St. Olaf Parsonage in Austin. Together they raised four children, Sandra, James, Larry and Cathy. Deloris and Earl lived in Austin. She was a stay at home mom, but as the children got older, she worked many jobs until she found herself working at JCPenney as a clerk, then worked in the office as a secretary/bookkeeper until her retirement.

In 1986 Deloris and Earl moved to Dorchester, where they owned and built “Scotty’s Campground” along the Waterloo Creek. Deloris enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, and spending time with friends she made there.

Deloris was very talented in needlework, sewing, quilting, cooking, baking, her flower gardens and making lefse. Not to forget, she was an avid Vikings football fan. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Survivors include two daughters, Sandra (Jerry Longworth) Hunn of Austin, MN and Cathy (Marty) Bishop of Arlington, WI; a son, James Scott of Waukon; a daughter-in-law, Carol Scott of Maryville, MO; nine grandchildren, Cristin Griffey of Austin, MN, Julianne (Joe) Strong of St. Peter, MN, Jeffrey (Kristina) Hunn of Austin, MN, Scott Hunn of Austin, MN, Kally Bishop of Sun Prairie, WI, Jared (Lindsey) Bishop of Wyocena, WI, Jacob Bishop of Milton, WI, Shannon Scott of Maryville, MO and Derick Scott of Austin, MN; 14 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Anita Fox; a former son-in-law, David Hunn; and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents; an infant brother; her husband, Earl Scott (September 2, 1998); a son, Larry Dean Scott (June 1982); infant granddaughters, Jennifer and Shaunna; and best friends and companions, Sport (her dog), and Sara and Sally (her cats).
