The Waukon girls basketball team faced a busy past week of competition due to some postponements from earlier in the season, but then had a winter weather postponement lighten up that week just a bit. The bucket Tribe opened the week Tuesday, January 21 with a 45-42 comeback win in a make-up game at New Hampton from Friday, January 17 before also making up a November 22 home date with Kee Thursday, January 23 and pulling away in the second half to a 54-31 win. The Indians were supposed to also host Oelwein Friday, January 24 but had that game postponed by winter weather to a date yet to be determined.

Sporting a 10-5 season record that includes a 4-3 mark in Northeast Iowa Conference competition, the Lady Indians were next scheduled to run the gauntlet of playing the top two teams in the Northeast Iowa Conference, traveling to Class 3A second-rated Crestwood Tuesday, January 28 before hosting Class 4A ninth-rated Waverly-Shell Rock Friday, January 31. The basketball Tribe will then, tentatively, have an entire week off before its next contest, traveling to Charles City Friday, February 7 prior to playing at Jesup Saturday, February 8 and then wrapping up its regular season hosting Decorah Tuesday, February 11.

Postseason tournament play is slated to begin February 15 for Class 3A. Location, match-up and time specifics are scheduled be released February 5-6.
