Kee girls basketball team splits UIC road pair, falls at Central and wins at NFV

Sophomore Reagan Mudderman rewrites Kee five-player scoring record with 34 points in win at NFV

The Kee girls basketball team was facing a pair of opponents who each own one of the Lady Hawks’ four losses in Upper Iowa Conference (UIC) play so far this season, as the Lady Hawks began a final long road stretch to wrap up this season’s UIC schedule. Once the dust from this past week settled, the basketball Hawks were able to avenge one of those two losses, although the other was just a few points from being avenged as well. Kee battled a Central Elkader team rated 15th in Class 1A and still in contention for the UIC season championship heading into that game very strong in coming up just a bit short, 48-45, in Elkader Tuesday, January 28 but bounced back to avenge a loss to North Fayette Valley from the start of this new year with a 62-43 road win Friday, January 31 that featured a new single-game scoring record for five-player Kee girls basketball when Hawk sophomore Reagan Mudderman poured in 34 points to rewrite the previous mark of 33 scored by Kee 2007 graduate Chandran Duffy during her sophomore season in 2005.

Now holding an 11-6 season record that includes an 8-5 Upper Iowa Conference mark, the Kee girls were next scheduled to face a busy week with three more Upper Iowa Conference road dates, traveling to MFL/MarMac Tuesday, February 4 before making up a January 17 postponement at Turkey Valley Thursday, February 6 and then playing at South Winneshiek Friday, February 7. The Kee girls will wrap up their regular season Tuesday, February 11 at home against Spring Grove, MN.

Postseason tournament play is slated to begin February 13 for Class 1A. Location, match-up and time specifics are scheduled be released February 5-6 by the Iowa High School Girls Athletic Union.
