Allamakee County residents invited to take part in Bible Reading Marathon through new format

Allamakee County will participate in the annual Iowa Bible Reading Marathon this year, 2020, but under a bit of a different format due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds has signed the 2020 Iowa Reading Marathon Proclamation, endorsing this event statewide.
The goal of the marathon each year is to read the bible from Genesis to Revelation over the entire state of Iowa. All Allamakee County residents are encouraged and welcome to take part.

CHANGE IN FORMAT
Because of the current COVID-19 situation, the Allamakee County marathon will not take place in a specific physical setting as in years past, but will follow some new guidelines.

The bible has been divided into smaller segments that take approximately 30 minutes to read. Allamakee County residents who are interested in reading portions of the Bible for this event are asked to sign up in one of two ways:
1. SignUp Genius website - Follow these four steps to participate:

3) Type in name and email address on the next screen when it pops up.

The key scripture verse for the 2020 Iowa Bible Reading Marathon is 2 Chronicles 7:14 which says, “If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and will turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.”

“Thank you in advance for being a part of the 2020 Iowa Bible Reading Marathon and helping to cover Allamakee County and our state of Iowa with the Word of God,” shared this year’s event organizers, Becky Kramer, Robin Oden and Betty Larsen. “One by one and collectively, we can advance the Kingdom of God by honoring and declaring ‘the Word of God that it may grow mightily and prevail’ (Acts 19:20).”
