Ann Klenske Ewing

Ann C. Klenske Ewing, 62, of Waukon died Monday, June 22, 2020 at her home. Memorial services were held Friday, June 26 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Waukon with Fr. Mark Osterhaus officiating. Memorials may be given in Ann’s name to Robey Memorial Library in Waukon.

Ann C. Klenske Ewing was born October 25, 1957 in Waukon, the daughter of James Bernard and Elenora Louise (Brown) Klenske. She was baptized, confirmed and attended elementary school at St. Patrick Catholic Parish in Waukon. In 1976, she graduated from Waukon High School and enrolled at Viterbo University in La Crosse, WI, where in 1980, she graduated earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Theater with a minor in Education.

Ann moved to Iowa City, where she started a family and while raising her three children, she worked in a bank and operated a day care service. In 1999, she and the kids moved back to Waukon, where she worked at Pamida, in the St. Pat’s School lunch program, managed the Waukon Aquatic Center, was an employment specialist at TASC, Inc., and most recently was employed at Kwik Star.

She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church and Kateri Tekakwitha study club and served as a Cub Scout leader. Ann worked very hard at insuring that her kids had the opportunity to participate in community activities and when they did, she never failed to attend their events. A voracious reader and avid sun worshipper, she often combined the two by finding a comfortable lounge chair and reading a book while working on her tan. Shoe shopping and meeting her friends for arts and crafts activities and wine tastings were favorite past times of Ann’s, however, nothing surpassed the joy she felt while spending time with her family.

Survivors include her three children: Kristina Marie of Cedar Rapids, Hannah Mae (Daniel Anderson) of Mabel, MN and Benjamin Thomas (Shelby) of Des Moines; three grandchildren: Kingson, Carson and Paxton; three fur grandbabies: Olive, Maggie and Tyson; her father, James Klenske of Waukon; her siblings: Beth Kloster of Marengo, Tom (Lisa) Klenske of Cedar Falls, Tim (Kathy) Klenske of Davenport, Sue (Chuck) Mincks of Marion and Mary Prior of Bellaire, TX; a brother-in-law, Kevin Hoisington of Waukon; and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her mother, Elenora “Ele” Klenske; a sister, Cindy Hoisington; a brother-in-law, John Kloster; and a nephew, Jeff Kloster.
