Heidi Jones Trotter

Heidi J. Jones Trotter, 60, of Lansing died Saturday, October 3, 2020 at her home. A visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, October 7 at Martin-Grau Funeral Home in Waukon. A celebration of life will be Thursday, October 8, starting at 3 p.m., at Milty’s in Lansing.

Heidi Jo Jones Trotter was born November 15, 1959 in Prairie du Chien, WI, the daughter of Herman LeRoy and Arlene Lauryane (Fish) Jones. Heidi attended Allamakee County schools and later earned her GED. She married Wayne Kelly and they later divorced.

Heidi managed The Buckaroo (now Paddy McQ’s) in Waukon and also worked for McGregor Electronics. With Randy Huffey, she had their daughter, Amy. For many years, Heidi bartended in Harpers Ferry and also owned and operated The Harbor House. Heidi married Clyde Trotter and they divorced.

She loved her family, and her grandchildren were her life. She also carried on the tradition of making her dad’s family recipe for horseradish. Heidi liked being outside and enjoyed walleye fishing, boating on the Mississippi, mushroom hunting, and catching polliwogs. She liked playing cards, Yahtzee and doing puzzle books. Heidi was a die-hard Chicago Bears fan and loved watching the Price is Right and Westerns as well.

Heidi is survived by her daughter, Amy (Tracy) McCabe of Lansing; her grandchildren, Jese Lewey, Bradyn Huffey-Reinhart and Chesney McCabe; her siblings: Harold (Romey), Harley (Patty), Henry (Elfreide) and Herman (Laura) Jones, Hope Garin, Holly (Steve) Wagner, Helen (Bob) Krousie, Howard (Trisha) Jones, Hattie (Terry) Nemmers, Heather (Grant) Nuehring, Hal (Lisa) Jones and Hillary (Tom) Ede; two brothers-in-law, Herman King and Ed Young; and many nieces and nephews.
