Ethel Thomas

Ethel K. Thomas, 93, of New Albin died Thursday, November 5, 2020 at Thornton Manor in Lansing. Graveside services will be held Wednesday, November 11 at 1 p.m. at Wheatland Cemetery in rural New Albin with Pastor Paul Burgess officiating. Friends may greet the family from 12 p.m. until the time of services Wednesday at the cemetery.

In consideration of concerns regarding COVID-19, social distancing and wearing of masks is encouraged. Feel free to bring your own lawn chair for the service. Martin-Grau Funeral Home in Waukon is handling arrangements.

Ethel Kathleen Thomas was born October 25, 1927 on the family farm in Allamakee County, rural New Albin, the daughter of Carl and Laura (Pottratz) Breeser. She was a lifelong member of St. John’s Wheatland Church in rural New Albin and attended country schools.

June 30, 1952, Ethel married Raymond Thomas; Ray passed away in 1958. She lived her entire life in New Albin and worked for many years at the button factory in Lansing. Ethel enjoyed playing cards, going for drives and watching game shows.

She is survived by many nieces, nephews and friends. Ethel was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Raymond; her daughter, Susan Kay Thomas; and her brothers: Fred (Norma), Walter (Phyllis), Robert (Vera) and Edward (Delores) Breeser.
