Sandra Hove

Sandra K. Hove, 81, of rural Decorah passed away peacefully with her family by her side Wednesday, November 25, 2020 at her home. Funeral services were held Monday, November 30 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Waukon with Pastor Bryan Robertson officiating. Burial was at Lincoln Cemetery, Ridgeway. Martin-Grau Funeral Home in Waukon handled arrangements. Cards and condolences may be sent to Dr. Brenda Houg at 1421 Old Stage Road, Waukon, IA 52172.

Sandra Kay Hove was born August 12, 1939 in Decorah, the daughter of Clarence and Blanche (Tollefson) Anderson; she was the youngest of two children. Sandra was baptized and confirmed at the Lutheran Church in Ossian and graduated from Ossian High School. She then started her career at the Ossian Bank.

As a teller, Sandra met a customer named Gary Hove; they fell in love and were married September 10, 1960 at Ossian Lutheran Church. Together, they farmed and raised their family in both Ridgeway and Waukon. In the mid-1990s, they retired from the farm life and Sandra worked for several years at Candlelight Gifts in Waukon.

Sandra was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Waukon. She enjoyed going to dances, doing yard work, gardening and playing cards. Her greatest joys were taking care of her family, attending her grandchildren’s activities and going to family gatherings.

She is survived by her two daughters: Peggy (Monty) Kuhn of West Union and Dr. Brenda (Scott) Houg of Waukon; her grandchildren: Jamey and Jordan Kuhn, and Logan, Hailey and Lynsey Houg; her brother-in-law, Lydell Hove; her sister-in-law, Patty (Joe) Weis; many nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Ron Buchheit.

Sandra was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Gary, in 2010; her son, Bryan Hove; her sister, Mildred (Marvin) Miller; and her sister-in-law, Lois Hove.

Honorary casketbearers were Hailey and Lynsey Houg. Casketbearers were Monty, Jamey and Jordan Kuhn, Scott and Logan Houg, and Mike Ferring.
