Daniel Buege

Daniel Wilford Buege, 71, rural Lansing, passed away Wednesday, December 16, 2020 at his home in rural Lansing following complications related to COVID-19. A private funeral was held at the Martin-Grau Funeral Home in Waukon, followed by a private burial at Center Baptist Cemetery, rural Lansing. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Trees Forever (www.treesforever.org) and the Veterans Memorial Hospital Nurse Council in Waukon.

Daniel was born July 29, 1949 in Waukon to Wilford “Bill” and Dorothy (West) Buege. He graduated from Waukon High School with the class of 1968. In adulthood, he graduated with an Associate’s Degree from NICC in Calmar, focusing on horticulture.

Daniel served his country honorably in the United State Air Force during Vietnam. During his time serving in the military, he was an Aircraft Maintenance Specialist and Mechanic.

He was united in marriage to Signe Aldrich May 2, 1981 at the Center Baptist Church in rural Lansing. Dan did auto body work for many years in Waukon and also worked at the family Nursery and Garden Center, Our Tara Inn, and Tara Erosion Control. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, anything to do with cars, and loved spending time with his family and friends. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Survivors include four children: Derek Daniel Buege of Lansing, Kari Hannah (Ryan) Smith of Lansing, Debbie Jo Harris of Wausau, WI and Darren Justin (Trista) Buege of Waukon; 10 grandchildren: Nick Buege, Roslin, Ewan and Liam Smith, Hailey, Adelyn and Cash Harris, Sterling and Ryker Buege and Oliver Hampton; his father-in-law, Don Aldrich of Waukon; his sister, Donna (Darwin) Winkie of Thornton, CO; and his brother, Thomas (Lisa) Buege of Waverly.

Daniel was preceded in death by his loving and faithful wife, Signe, who passed February 23, 2020; his daughter, Jennifer Buege; his parents, Bill and Dorothy Buege; his mother-in-law, Lois Aldrich; and his grandparents.
