The Waukon boys basketball team came up just shy of a second consecutive undefeated week, adding its first two games of this past three-game week in three consecutive nights to what became a six-game win streak before having that winning stretch snapped by a 70-65 loss at Dyersville Beckman Saturday, January 23. Prior to the end of that streak, the Indians posted considerable victories on the two consecutive nights prior, blasting MFL/MarMac on the Bulldogs’ home court, 86-55, Thursday, January 21 before snapping what had amounted to a 25-game losing streak to Waverly-Shell Rock spanning 12 seasons with a 76-68 home win over the Go-Hawks Friday, January 22.

Now holding a 10-5 overall record, including a 6-3 mark in Northeast Iowa Conference (NEIC) play that places them a game behind front-runners Waverly-Shell Rock, Decorah and Crestwood in the loss column in the NEIC standings, the Indians are next scheduled to play at New Hampton Tuesday, January 26 before hosting Charles City Friday, January 29 and then playing Wapsie Valley Saturday, January 30 in a recently-scheduled varsity-only match-up at Upper Iowa University in Fayette. The bucket Tribe will then host Oelwein Friday, February 5 and South Winneshiek Monday, February 8 to wrap up their regular season.
