Lansing City Council sets property tax levy public hearing for March 1, seeks input from public on changes to City Code of Ordinances

The regular meeting of the Lansing City Council was held Monday, February 15. Discussion centered around the consent agenda, PeopleService update and committee reports.

The consent agenda consisted of council meeting minutes from February 1, 2021. A motion was made and seconded to approve the consent agenda.

PeopleService provided an update noting that a radium test of the City water well was recently sent in, and it came back with a reading in the safe zone. A motion was made and seconded to approve the PeopleService update.

A committee has been reviewing and considering a contract with Upper Explorerland Regional Planning Commission for updates to the City Code of Ordinances. A motion was made and seconded to approve the committee report. Box 470, Lansing, IA 52151, or drop them off in the black drop box located outside the city hall main entrance.

The council reviewed and discussed the union contract for 2021-2026, which was approved unanimously. A public hearing was scheduled for the council’s next meeting, Monday, March 1 in regard to the proposed property tax levy rate. Discussion also took place regarding interest in a housing project in partnership with Upper Explorerland Regional Planning Commission.
