Kee track girls dominate MFL/MarMac Invitational with 10 event wins

In what turned out to be its only competition of this past week, the Kee girls track team made the most of that lone opportunity at the MFL/MarMac Invitational Thursday, April 15, winning the meet by more than 40 points. The Lady Hawks claimed victory in 10 of the meet’s events to rack up 153 team points on the way to that title, winning five of the six individual non-hurdle running events and four of the six non-hurdle relays as well.

Prior to that dominant performance, the Kee track girls were also scheduled to compete in the Waukon Early Bird Invitational Tuesday, April 13. That meet was called off due to cold and windy conditions.

“With the Waukon meet getting canceled we only ran once this week,” shared Kee girls track coach Chad Winters. “It actually ended up being OK with the meet getting called off Monday afternoon. We were able to make some practice adjustments and get two tough workouts in Monday and Tuesday, which we really needed. The girls responded well and ran pretty good.  Jada, Haley, Mallory and Alaina led the way as they ran or jumped their way to four first-place finishes.  Jaylyn Walleser and Alison Wagner had great nights as well, as they continue to improve as the season progresses.”

The Lady Hawks were next scheduled to compete at the Crestwood Invitational Tuesday, April 20 before hosting three other teams at their own home invitational Thursday, April 22, with details of that home meet printed elsewhere on these same Sports pages in a shaded box. The Kee girls will then compete at the Clayton Ridge Invitational Tuesday, April 27 and then return to MFL/MarMac Thursday, April 29.
