After playing through back-to-back undefeated weeks of competition to piece together a 14-game winning streak, the Kee baseball team ended up being tripped up in three of its five games played this past week, not only snapping that win streak but also having its undefeated Upper Iowa Conference (UIC) season come to an end as well. In suffering their first losses in more than two weeks, the Hawks were also dealing with the loss of junior catcher Buddy Hill to injury, with a timetable for his return not being known for sure at this point.

The Hawks had their undefeated UIC streak snapped in splitting a home doubleheader with Clayton Ridge Monday, June 21, falling by a 3-1 count in the opening game but bouncing back with a 10-0 win in six innings. The Kee boys then suffered a 12-3 loss at Wapsie Valley Tuesday, June 22 and came up short, 5-0, at South Winneshiek Thursday, June 24 before playing just one game out of two scheduled at the Estherville/Lincoln Central Tournament Saturday, June 26, defeating that host squad by a 4-1 count before having their second game canceled due to rainy weather.

Now holding a 21-8 overall record that includes an 11-2 mark in UIC play, the Hawks were next scheduled to host North Fayette Valley for a UIC doubleheader Monday, June 28, host Turkey Valley Thursday, July 1, play a non-conference doubleheader at Alburnett Friday, July 2 and then play at Waukon Saturday, July 3 before wrapping up their regular season with a UIC doubleheader at Postville Monday, July 5 and another non-conference doubleheader against Easton Valley to be played at Upper Iowa University in Fayette Wednesday, July 7. The Kee boys will then begin postseason tournament play at a time, date and location scheduled to be announced yet this week.
