Veterans Memorial Hospital Waukon Medical Clinic receives artwork donation...

The new Veterans Memorial Hospital Waukon Medical Clinic has received a donation of artwork compliments of local artist Val Miller and her husband, Josh, owners and operators of Steel Cow in Waukon. Eighteen pieces of Val’s artwork were donated and are on display throughout the clinic. Pictured above, at left, is Val Miller, along with Clinic Director Laura Baxter, RN and Michael Coyle, Veterans Memorial Hospital CEO.

“We are very happy to donate some prints of my cows, pigs, chickens and other animals which now hang in the new clinic! I remember many years ago when the clinic building was first built, Dr. Olson was very proud of it and he gave me a little tour of the artwork that was chosen at the time. I asked him why the specific pieces were chosen and he didn’t know. These images that I have painted are mostly paintings based on animals that have come from Waukon and the surrounding area and so they are tied to our wonderful community. We hope our community enjoys looking at them while receiving great healthcare, and that they can help make everyone feel at home!”

A large mural which will collage a number of Val’s paintings will also be added to the children’s area of the clinic waiting room. Donations to the clinic are still being accepted by the Veterans Memorial Health Care Foundation. All gifts to the Foundation are tax deductible. Anyone with any questions about the campaign or Foundation is invited to call the hospital at 563-568-3411. Submitted photo.
