Hunters Education Course to be offered September 9, 11

The Allamakee County Conservation Board is hosting an Iowa Hunters Education Course September 9 and September 11 of this year at the Allamakee County Sportsman’s Club, located at 450 Highway 9, west of Waukon. Thursday, September 9 the course will be from 6-9 p.m. and Saturday, September 11 the course will be from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Attendance both days is required to obtain hunters education certification.

Anyone who is born after January 1, 1972 and is at least 12 years of age or older is required to take an approved hunters education course before they may obtain a hunting license in the state of Iowa. The course will include firearm safety, basic preparation for hunting, wildlife identification, and live fire. All firearms and ammunition will be provided by the instructors.

Anyone who wishes to participate in the Iowa Hunters Education Course at the Allamakee County Sportsman’s Club is asked to preregister at https://license.gooutdoorsiowa.com/Event/ViewEvent.aspx?id=1963. The class is limited to the first 30 participants.
