The Auxiliary of Veterans Memorial Hospital in Waukon, together with Elliott Jewelers of Waukon, will be hosting their 16th annual Women’s Health Day wellness event and luncheon Tuesday, September 28 at the Waukon Banquet Center. All ages are invited to attend any part of this educational event, beginning at 11 a.m. with a wellness fair offering a variety of free health tests and information, and a salad luncheon and program held from noon to 1 p.m.

Due to COVID-19, attendees will be asked to wear masks at the event until they sit down for the meal and again when finished eating. Fewer vendors will be on site at this year’s event in order to more safely distance the tables with fewer attendees sitting at each table.

The theme for this year’s event is “Fall for Wellness.” Featured speakers for the Women’s Health Day program will include Jessica Everman, PA-C at the Gundersen Waukon Clinic who will speak on women’s health issues. Laura Sorenson, the new hospital social worker, will cover her role as well as mental health care and advance directives. Craig Lensing of Martin-Grau Funeral Home will present, “The Talk of a Lifetime,” and Michael Coyle, CEO of Veterans Memorial Hospital, will be giving an update on hospital and clinic services.

The doors will open for this event at 11 a.m., with the luncheon and program speakers beginning at noon. Those able to take a longer lunch break may enjoy the free health testing and education available from 11 a.m. to noon and again following the luncheon program. To honor one-hour lunch breaks, participants are also invited to attend just the program and luncheon which will be held to one hour.

The ticket cost of the Women’s Health Day event is $15 per person. For that fee, all those attending will receive a goodie bag filled with coupons, samples and general health information, in addition to the luncheon, health testing and program. Everyone purchasing a ticket will be entered into a drawing for a Ladies’ 14kt yellow gold, oval-shaped, diamond pendant on a 14Kt yellow gold 17” diamond cut cable link neck chain, containing 86 prong-set round single cut diamonds (retail price $860) compliments of Elliott Jewelers of Waukon.
