Decorators and silent auction donors needed for 29th Annual Christmas Fantasy: This year’s theme “Baby It’s Cold Outside”

The planning of the 2021 Christmas Fantasy is underway and decorators and silent auction donors are needed. The format of the event was changed again this year to keep the event COVID-19 safe with decorations and lighted displays being set up outside on the Allamakee County Fairgrounds. Only the silent auction items will be displayed inside the Pavilion.

This year the theme for Christmas Fantasy will be “Baby It’s Cold Outside,” which is fitting for an outdoor Fantasy. A drive-through of lighted displays will be out in front of the Allamakee Fairgrounds Pavilion for anyone wanting to drive through or walk through evenings during the event, which will be held November 18-22.   Any type of outdoor lighted display is appropriate such as a tree, a wreath, a lawn ornament, an outlined item, a blow-up decoration, etc.

Silent Auction items will be displayed inside the Pavilion. Miniature tree, door, gift baskets, and centerpiece decorators are also needed and will be donated and sold on silent auction during the Fantasy. Quilters and crafters are also asked to display their talents. Non-holiday items are always very popular as well. Photos with descriptions of each item will be entered into the on-line auction website which is hosted by Sweeney Auction Service. Visitors to the drive-through Fantasy are welcome to park and enter the Pavilion any evening of the event to view all of the silent auction items and learn how they can bid on them online. Anyone anywhere, whether they attend the Fantasy or not, is welcome to watch and bid on any items they are interested in until the auction ends at 7 p.m. Monday night, November 22.

Drive through meals will also be offered throughout the event.  More details will follow in the coming weeks.

The event is organized by the Veterans Memorial Health Care Foundation members including Kevin Hanson, President; Jay Mathis, Vice President; Craig Lensing, Secretary; Nancy Schoh, Treasurer; Rose Beardmore, Sue Blagsvedt, Mitch Duncklee, Patty Goltz, Dan Headington, Judy Herman, Jane Kallevang, Ardie Kuhse, Nona Sawyer, Kim Sylvester, Matt Teslow and Kay Zimmerman.

Any decorators or donors who are willing to be a part of the 2021 “Baby It’s Cold Outside” outdoor Christmas Fantasy should call Erin Berns at Veterans Memorial Hospital in Waukon at 563-568-5600 to reserve their spot.
