Roger Frick

Roger E. Frick, 67, of Waukon died Monday, December 13, 2021 at his home. A visitation was held Thursday, December 16 at Martin-Grau Funeral Home in Waukon. A second visitation with a short service was held Saturday, December 18 at Schultz Funeral Homes in DeWitt, with burial following at Inland Cemetery in Bennett.

Roger Edwin Frick was born June 19, 1954 in Davenport, the son of Edwin H. and Marian L. (Vilmont) Frick; he was baptized March 30, 1955 at the Bennett Methodist Church. Roger grew up on the family farm in Bennett and graduated from Bennett High School. He continued farming, raising dairy cows and Black Angus cattle.

June 29, 1973, Roger married Susan Heick in Bennett. In 1979, the couple and their family moved to Waterville to farm before moving to Waukon in 1986. For 36 years, Roger drove truck for Innovative Ag Services in Waukon.

Roger was an NRA member and loved being outdoors. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping with his family and traveled around the country to do so; Roger also liked riding his motorcycle. As a history buff, Roger particularly liked visiting Civil War museums and battlefields and enjoyed watching Westerns. He liked watching whatever sporting events were on TV and actively followed his grandchildren’s games.

He is survived by his wife, Sue, of Waukon; three children: Chris (Stephanie) Frick of Elroy, WI, Sandy (Shane) Whitenack of Mason City and Edwin (Karen) Frick of Waukon; his grandchildren: Brennen, Mason, Sawyer and Aiden Frick, Amber, Drew and Chelsea Whitenack, Bianca Malone, and Dalton, Devin, Caitlin and Carver Frick; two great-grandchildren, Temari and Phillip Whitenack; a sister, Barbara VanDen Berghe of DeWitt; his brothers-in-law: Richard Jordan of Nashua, Carl (Doris) Heick and Jerry (Anita) Heick; and his sister-in-law, Candy (Jeff) Ford. Roger was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Connie Frick and Marilyn Jordan.

Roger’s grandchildren served as honorary casketbearers. Casketbearers were Jamie Leir, JJ Heick, Duane and Chad Grau, Tony Arp, Jason Green and Darrell Baumgartner.
