The Waukon girls basketball team got its Northeast Iowa Conference (NEIC) season underway this past week, earning a split against its first two league foes. The Lady Indians first secured a 49-45 win at New Hampton Tuesday, December 14 before falling at home to Waverly-Shell Rock by a 36-26 final result. Holding a 3-4 season record that includes a 1-1 start to their NEIC schedule, the Indians were next scheduled to host Decorah Tuesday, December 21 to wrap up the pre-holiday portion of this season’s schedule. The Tribe will return to action after the holidays Monday, January 3 when they host Kee before hosting a January 6 make-up date with Crestwood, traveling to Charles City Friday, January 7 and then playing Wapsie Valley at Upper Iowa University in Fayette Saturday, January 8.
