Cindy (Welch) McDowell

Cindy Sue (Welch) McDowell, 72, of rural De Soto, WI passed away peacefully Tuesday, February 8, 2022. A private family service will be held.

Cindy was born January 15, 1950, the oldest of seven children born to Ralph and Joann (Hangartner) Welch. Cindy graduated from St. Patrick High School in Waukon with the Class of 1968.

She married Ron McDowell September 12, 1970. Soon after, they moved to the ridge outside of Red Mound, WI, where they raised two beautiful daughters.

Cindy was a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend. She will always be remembered for her love of family, famous goulash, beautiful flowers, her jukebox dance moves, and her great love of the Green Bay Packers.

She is survived by her husband, Ron; her loving daughters, Holly (Troy) Sommer and Nicki (Ryan) Nichols; her cherished grandsons, Ryan (Amanda) Lockington, Austin Lockington (special friend Melissa Vodde), and Evan and Dylan Nichols; her great-grandchildren, Reid, Marilyn, Dahlana, Arianna and Charlette; and her siblings, Sherry Welch, Chris (Steve) Weymiller, Terry (Laurie) Welch, Jill (Jim) Kiesau and Kim (Amy) Welch.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Joann Welch; her mother-in-law, Bernilda McDowell; her father-in-law, Elmer McDowell; her sister, Jackie Welch; her brother-in-law, Larry McDowell; and a nephew, Jamie Ryan.
