Availability of Massage Therapy Services expanded at Veterans Memorial Hospital

Veterans Memorial Hospital in Waukon recently hired a new massage therapist who is working full-time hours at the hospital, allowing for massage times to be expanded and more readily available.

Shannon Bernatz, Licensed Massage Therapist, has joined the rehabilitation team at the hospital, working with Vicki Klepper, Licensed Massage Therapist and Reflexologist. Now massage therapy and reflexology services are again available five days a week at the hospital, including evening hours.

“I am so happy and honored to join the team here because of our patient-centered culture and reputation for excellence,” states massage therapist Bernatz. “We have such a wide reaching and important impact on our community and I am excited to bring my massage therapy skills to the community we serve.”

“I have been a massage therapist since 2015 and some of my experience and education offers Swedish Massage, Hot Stone Massage, Cupping, Pre- and Post-Natal, Reflexology, and Deep Tissue, to name a few,” adds Bernatz. “We have a complete list of services and the ability to schedule with ease, online 24 hours a day. We are taking appointments five days a week with some evening availability as well!”

Hours for scheduling a massage at Veterans Memorial Hospital now include Monday and Tuesday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., Wednesdays from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Thursdays and Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

“I am very excited to have Shannon join me on staff here at Veterans Memorial Hospital,” states massage therapist Klepper, who has offered massage at Veterans Memorial Hospital since 2018. “Massage is so important, so it is so wonderful to be able to offer expanded hours for massage, and I can tell you from experience that Shannon gives a very good massage!”

The types of massage offered at Veterans Memorial Hospital have also expanded. The benefits of massage therapy include decreasing anxiety, enhancing sleep, increasing energy, improving circulation, improving concentration and reducing fatigue. Appointments can be scheduled online by following these simple instructions:

2. Under the “I Want To…” section, click on “Schedule a massage.”
3. Choose type of massage.
4. Choose therapist.
5. Choose date and time.
6. After clicking on preferred time, click the ‘continue’ button below.
7. Enter personal information and click on “complete appointment.”
