Betty Fish

Betty Jean Fish, 76, of Maquoketa went to be with her beloved husband, Jack, May 19, 2022 at Clarissa Cook Hospice House located in Bettendorf. Online condolences may be shared at www.rungemortuary.com.

She fought hard and is now at rest joining her family reunion in Heaven.

A Celebration of Life gathering for family and friends will be scheduled in the near future. A date and time are yet to be determined.

Betty Jean was born on Father’s Day, June 17, 1945 in Centerville to Glen (Big Shorty) Bennett and Polly (Thackrey) Bennett. Betty was married to Jackie (Jack) Fish April 18, 1964, and they were married 50 years at the time of his death December 20, 2014.

Betty loved her NASCAR races and trout fishing - she and her husband, Jack, traveled the state of Iowa fishing and camping with kids in tow for many years. Prior to having children, Betty worked for Von Maur in the pricing room, and then became a wife and homemaker with a five-year employment at Midland Press in the 1990s.

“Grandma Betty was the most selfless person” - she did everything in her power to assist her children and grandchildren or great-grandchildren whenever needed.

Betty was proceeded in death by her husband, Jackie L Fish; her parents, Glen and Polly Bennett; her brother, Glen (Sonny) Bennett; her sister, Greta Carlson; and her niece, Sarah M Bennett.

Betty Jean is survived by her brother, Ben (Carolyn) Bennett of Bernard; and her sister-in-law, Sherry Williams of Nashville, TN. Betty Jean and Jack  are further survived by their four children, Pollyanna Bartholomew of Davenport, Jackie V. Mains of Maquoketa, Shaun R. (Laurie) Fish of Walcott and Shane L. (Sarah) Fish of Maquoketa; and an honorary son, Jason Lake of Davenport. There are also eight grandchildren who survive, including Kory R. O’Neill, Alisha (Joe) Yarolem, Christopher Mains, Kayla T. (James) Rutherford, Skyler K. Bartholomew, Nathan (Monica) Felts, Brandon Hinkel and Megan Felts; as well as nine surviving great-grandchildren, Aiden Weimerskirch, Addison Yarolem, Boston Weimerskirch, Evelyn Mains, Andrew Yarolem, Elizabeth Mains, Willow Mains, Amara Yarolem and Penelope Felts. Betty was also blessed with many nieces and nephews, all of whom she loved with all her heart.
