Charlie (Danny) Campbell was born March 25, 1937 in Waukon, the son of Leonard Joseph and Hazel Elizabeth (Riley) Campbell. Charlie was baptized and confirmed at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Waukon. He attended St. Patrick Catholic School and public schools in Waukon. He met Sharon (Shari) Campbell in 1970 and they had 52 wonderful years together. Charlie and Shari were married November 24, 1978 and renewed their vows June 26, 2011.

Charlie served in the Army from 1956 to 1962 as a Spec-4 in the 82nd Airborne Division.

Charlie will best be remembered by his kind heart, friendliness, story-telling, and his generosity. He never met a stranger. Charlie held many positions over the years, including iron walking, lumber yard, cook in supper clubs, and restaurant owner. But his favorite position was his last job, working for Johnson County Seats, where he made many friends driving children, the elderly and handicapped individuals.
