Waukon football team to host New Hampton this Friday in first round of Class 2A Play-Offs

After winning its fifth consecutive Class 2A District 4 undefeated season championship this past Friday, October 14, the Waukon football team will begin its Class 2A State Play-Off journey this Friday, October 21 at home.

The Indians will host fellow Northeast Iowa Conference school New Hampton, beginning at 7 p.m., with the winner advancing on to the second round of State Play-Off action next Friday, October 28.

The Chickasaws have played to a 6-2 season record, with those two losses both coming in Class 2A District 3 play to end up in a three-way tie for second place at 3-2 in that district with Crestwood and Clear Lake, all of them finishing behind an Osage team that won the district without a loss. New Hampton ended up as the number-four seed behind Crestwood and Clear Lake based on the point differential tie-breaker, with the Chickasaws actually defeating Crestwood, 24-14, midway through the season but falling to Osage, 21-8, and just suffering a 35-28 loss to Clear Lake this past Friday, October 14.
