Waukon High School Choir’s Church Tour is this Sunday

The Waukon High School Choir will travel around the area on its 27th Annual Christmas Church Tour Sunday, December 4.

The choir sings at seven churches each year. Those churches are selected based on a number of factors, including church proximity to the high school, accessibility for school buses, the physical size of the church, the membership size of the congregation, and whether the worship service is broadcast.

Under the direction of Sarah Bieber, the choir will be singing during the worship services at these Waukon area churches according to the following time schedule:

St John’s Lutheran
8:30-8:45 a.m.

Old West Lutheran
9-9:15 a.m.

First Presbyterian
9:30-9:45 a.m.

St Patrick Catholic
10-10:15 a.m.

First Baptist
10:30-10:45 a.m.

Zalmona Presbyterian
11-11:15 a.m.

Zion United Church of Christ (UCC)
11:30-11:45 a.m.

The Annual Tour allows choir members to serve the community by singing several pieces of music at various congregations during the Advent season. The performances also act as a preview for the Waukon High School Band and Vocal Winter Concert which is scheduled to be held Monday, December 12 this year. At each December 4 church stop, the choir takes a freewill offering to support local causes. This year’s offering will be split between the Allamakee County Relief Office, the Allamakee County Food Shelf and the Backpack Program in the Allamakee Community School District.

If bad weather prevents safe travel, a cancellation announcement will be made through the usual school-closing channels, and the tour will not be rescheduled for a later date.
