City of New Albin seeking public input on installing speed cameras along State Highway 26

The New Albin City Council is seeking input from the public on the possibility of installing speed cameras within its city limits along State Highway 26 that runs through the community. As a supplementary source of speed limit enforcement in light of the limited police presence in the community of New Albin, the cameras would reportedly track traffic speeds and result in the mailing of speeding tickets when vehicles are clocked at 10 or more miles an hour over the posted speed limit, with a majority of that fine revenue being received by the City of New Albin.

Comments should be submitted to the New Albin City Clerk’s office at P.O. Box 14, New Albin, IA 52160, or may also be shared by calling 563-544-4260 or visiting the City of New Albin Facebook page. The deadline for public responses is Wednesday, March 8 of this year. The New Albin City Council is planning to hold a public hearing on this matter in the future. No date for that public hearing has been scheduled at this point in time.
