Judy Dee

Judy M. Dee, 74, of Waukon died Thursday, May 11, 2023 at Gundersen Health System in La Crosse, WI. Memorial services will be held Friday, May 19 at 11 a.m. at Zion United Church of Christ in Waukon with Pastor Cathy Jurgens officiating. Friends may greet the family from 9 a.m. until time of services Friday at the church. Martin-Grau Funeral Home in Waukon is handling the arrangements.

Judy Mae Dee was born December 6, 1948 in Fairfield, the daughter of Earl and Bernita (Rose) Siverly. She attended grade school and junior high in Bonaparte and Harmony High School in Farmington.

Judy was married to Roger Lee Cole, and together they had a daughter, Lisa, and then later divorced. Judy and Lisa then moved to Waukon in 1970, where she first worked at Northern Engraving Factory.

April 15, 1972, she married Lyle Harold Dee at Zion United Church of Christ in Waukon. They farmed together in the Waukon and Waterville areas, milking cows and raising pigs and crops. Judy worked as a bartender at the Waterville Tap and The Spillway in Harpers Ferry before she became the cafeteria manager at the sale barn in Waukon until she retired in 2016.

She was a member of Zion United Church of Christ. Judy enjoyed listening to old country music, playing euchre, cooking and baking. Lyle and Judy enjoyed going to dances at the Rainbow Gardens in Waterville. Judy was an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan as well. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include her children, Lisa Melcher of Waukon, Ned Dee of Waterville and Lacey Nagel of Waukon; six grandchildren, Cathy (Jonathan) Buhl, Ryan Melcher, Laura (Raven) Bee, Angela Reyes, Jordan (Peyton) Dee and Ali Nagel; her great-grandchildren, Connor and Cameron Buhl, Aliyah and Pedro Reyes, Blakley and Baylor Dee, and Josie Bee; and a sister, Marlis Siverly of Portland, OR.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lyle, in 2020; a sister, Jan Mayo; a brother, Mike Malone; and a son-in-law Marty Melcher.

Honorary urnbearers are Judy’s grandchildren, Charlotte Hill, Betty Young, Lyle Moose, Rodney Peterson, Joni White, and Ray and Shirley Wacker.
